Here are my thoughts on 'The Most
Acclaimed Album of the Year'.
I received an advanced copy last week, and since then have been listening to it constantly!
I'm not going to go into specifics of each song, but let me say one thing. Barbra's vocals on this album are more clearer, purer than any recent album.
Barbra has given these songs her own sparkle. She plays around with notes, and words. At 61, she sounds amazing. If I were to be honest, I was telling myself that her voice wouldn't be as perfect as A Love Like Ours (One of my top 5 BJS CDs). I can honestly say, hand on heart, she sounds amazing!
My favorite? I can't pick one. It would have to be How Do You Keep The Music
Playing, Calling You and You're Gonna Hear From Me.
Calling You is so different to anything Barbra has ever recorded. It stands out
from any other track on the CD.
You're Gonna Hear From Me - What a wonderful FINALE! The lyrics are fun...
"Everyone tells me to know my place, but that's not the way I play, so why am I
daring to show my face, well... I've got something to say...." the melody is
catchy - and she sounds AMAZING!
I'm not going to spoil it for you anymore! Just make sure you PRE ORDER the CD now!
The new CD will include 12 brand-new recordings produced by Barbra and Jay Landers. Barbra personally co-produced the tracks - "Moon River", "How Do You Keep The Music Playing?", "Calling You", and "Emily".
All the songs on The Movie Album were recorded with full-band accompanied by 75-piece orchestra(s). Arrangers on the album include Johnny Mandel, Jeremy Lubbock, Jorge Calandrelli, and Robbie Buchanan.
The album includes full Liner notes by Barbra as she describes each song. Barbra has dedicated the album to Gregory Peck- "...to my friend, Gregory Peck, a screen legend who in real life possessed all the humanity and dignity he brought to his career-defining roles."
A special collector's edition of The Movie Album will also be made available for a limited time. The special package will include The Movie Album in its entirety as well as a bonus DVD featuring videos of Ms. Streisand performing "I'm In The Mood For Love" and "Wild Is The Wind" as well as an in-depth exclusive audio commentary with the artist.
